Safeguarding Statement

1. Policy Statement

The Little Play Patch is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children who attend our sessions, events and hires. We aim to provide a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where children can explore, imagine and play.

The Little Play Patch does not provide childcare. Parents, guardians or responsible adults remain responsible for supervising their children at all times.

2. Our Commitment

To support the safety and well-being of children, The Little Play Patch will:

  • Take reasonable steps to provide a safe play environment

  • Ensure play equipment is maintained, cleaned and set up safely

  • Ensure responsible adults from The Little Play Patch are present during organised sessions and events

  • Take appropriate action if a safeguarding concern is raised

Where required, The Little Play Patch may ensure that team members hold relevant safeguarding awareness training, background checks, or first aid training, however supervision of children remains the responsibility of the parent or guardian.

3. Parental Supervision

Children attending The Little Play Patch sessions, events or hires must be supervised at all times by their parent, guardian or responsible adult.

The Little Play Patch team facilitate the play environment during organised sessions and events but do not provide individual supervision or childcare.

4. Responding to Safeguarding Concerns

If a safeguarding concern arises, The Little Play Patch will:

  1. Take the concern seriously

  2. Record the details of the concern where appropriate

  3. Seek advice or report the concern to relevant authorities if necessary

Concerns will be handled sensitively and confidentially.

5. Reporting a Concern
